The Diver Medic Technician (DMT) course prepares commercial divers and offshore personnel to provide emergency medical care in diving environments. This programme develops the knowledge and practical skills required to assess, stabilise, and manage diving-related injuries and medical emergencies until professional medical support is available. The course follows IMCA requirements for Diver Medic training and is IMCA approved, meeting the standards expected for safety-critical roles in the global offshore diving industry.

Why Choose This Programme?

  • Complete training package – includes both online theory and practical training
  • IMCA approved – recognised Diver Medic Technician training
  • Career focused – essential certification for offshore diving operations
  • Practical emergency response – develop life-saving medical skills
  • Industry aligned – designed for commercial divers and offshore personnel worldwide

How the Programme Works

Step 1: Complete Online Theory

Begin with the online theory component, completed independently before attending practical training.

This prepares learners for medical response, casualty assessment, diving-related injuries, offshore emergency procedures, and hyperbaric support environments.

Complete your theory first. Attend practical training next. Qualify through successful assessment.

Step 2: Attend Practical Skills Training and Assessment

On-site practical training is conducted at The Academy of Diving and Offshore Medicine in Saldanha Bay, South Africa.

This phase includes hands-on emergency medical training in realistic diving scenarios, including in-water, on-vessel, and hyperbaric environments.

Entry Requirements

To attend the 10-day practical skills training and assessment, the following is required:

  1. Copy of ID/passport
  2. Electronic colour passport photograph
  3. Copy of diving qualification, such as DOL, ADAS, or HSE dive permit
  4. Completed registration form

This is a specialist offshore medical training programme designed for qualified commercial divers and diving personnel.

It is not an entry-level diving course. Participants should already hold a recognised diving qualification or be working within the diving industry.
