This course is designed for divers who have already completed a Class IV commercial diving certification or hold an equivalent qualification from an accredited training institution.
If you are new to commercial diving, you must start with the Class IV programme before progressing to this level.
Divers with existing commercial SCUBA certifications from recognised institutions may be assessed to determine eligibility for direct entry into this programme.

How the Programme Works
Step 1: Complete Theory Online
The theory component is completed online independently prior to any practical training.
This includes modules on:
- Surface Plant and Equipment
- Surface-Supplied Diving Equipment
- Umbilical Management and Tendering
- Kirby Morgan Helmet: Operator User Training
- Safe surface-supplied diving work practices
Step 2: Attend Practical Training
The practical component is conducted on-site at The Academy of Diving and Offshore Medicine and must be booked and paid for separately.
This phase focuses on:
- Surface-supplied diving systems and equipment setup
- Umbilical handling and diver tendering
- Underwater communication systems
- Working as part of a supervised dive team
- Tool handling and inshore operational tasks
- Emergency procedures and safety protocols
On-Site Practical Training Dates
Practical duration: Please confirm with the Academy when booking on-site practical dates.
Important Conditions:
You can provisionally book practical training in advance.
Online theory needs to be completed before attending on-site practical training.
