The Diver Medic Technician (DMT) course prepares commercial divers and offshore personnel to provide emergency medical care in diving environments. This programme develops the knowledge and practical skills required to assess, stabilise, and manage diving-related injuries and medical emergencies until professional medical support is available. The course follows IMCA requirements for Diver Medic training and is IMCA approved, meeting the standards expected for safety-critical roles in the global offshore diving industry.

How the Programme Works

Step 1: Complete Theory Online

The theory component is completed online independently before attending practical training.
This prepares you for medical response, casualty assessment, and offshore emergency procedures.

Step 2: Practical Skills Training and Assessment

Practical training is conducted at The Academy of Diving and Offshore Medicine or an approved training centre.
This phase includes hands-on emergency medical training in diving scenarios, including in-water, on-vessel, and hyperbaric environments.

Entry Requirements

To attend the 10-day practical skills training and assessment, the following is required:

  1. Copy of ID/Passport
  2. Electronic colour passport photograph
  3. Copy of diving qualification (DOL, ADAS, HSE dive permit)
  4. Completed registration form

Practical Training Dates

Duration: 2 weeks (10 days practical training)

The prerequisite online theory must be completed prior to practical onsite training.
Even if a practical intake is fully booked, you can still start your theory training online NOW to prepare for upcoming training dates.
