The IMCA Recognised Diver Medic Technician (DMT) Refresher Course

The Diver Medic Technician (DMT) course is designed for commercial divers and diving personnel who may be required to provide emergency medical care in offshore diving operations. The programme develops the practical skills and knowledge needed to manage diving‑related injuries and medical emergencies until professional medical support is available.

The course follows the IMCA requirements for Diver Medic training and includes both theoretical learning and intensive hands‑on practical training. Participants learn how to assess, stabilise, and treat casualties in diving environments, including on‑vessel, in‑water, and hyperbaric scenarios.

This course is approved by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA), ensuring that training meets the standards expected for safety‑critical roles in the global offshore diving industry.

Course Admission

To qualify for the 5 days on site skills training and assessment, the following is required:

1. Copy ID/Passport
2. Electronic colour passport photograph
3. Copy of Dive Qualification (DOL, ADAS, HSE dive permit)
4. Copy of current IMCA DMT certificate
5. Enrolment form

Course Structure

• Theory Component: Completed online independently prior to attending the practical training.
• Practical Training: Skills training and assessment, at The Academy of Diving and Offshore Medicine or another approved training centre.
