Class IV, III + II Offshore Commercial Diver (50m SSDE) Overview
This all-inclusive program combines the Class IV, III, and II levels to provide complete training for offshore commercial diving operations up to 50 meters. It is designed for individuals pursuing full professional certification and readiness for offshore work environments.
Course Structure
- Theory Component: Completed online independently prior to the practical training start date. Topics include advanced diving theory, decompression management, offshore safety systems, surface-supplied diving operations, and first aid with oxygen administration.
- Practical Training: Delivered at The Academy of Diving and Offshore Medicine or another approved training facility. This intensive phase emphasizes advanced SSDE use, underwater tool handling, communication, offshore procedures, and complex diving operations under supervision. Certification and Skills
Graduates of the Class IV, III + II package are certified as Offshore Commercial Divers qualified for professional diving operations up to 50 meters using surface-supplied systems. They are equipped for both inshore and offshore commercial environments, capable of performing underwater inspection, maintenance, and construction tasks safely and effectively.

This programme aligns to the QCTO curriculum for Diver (Commercial) (684101001) and supports the SAQA Occupational Certificate: Commercial Diver (SAQA ID 110371, NQF Level 4).
Exit Level Outcomes are achieved through training and assessment that develops competence in full commercial diving operational readiness, safe dive planning and risk control, equipment setup and testing, dive execution and emergency response, effective surface support, and complete post-dive documentation and maintenance in compliance with industry safety requirements.
