Supervisor training in South Africa is designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to manage teams effectively, ensuring compliance with labour laws and regulations.  This supervisor training programme is aligned with the Department of Employment and Labour’s guidelines, South Africa.

Key Components of Supervisor Training:

  1. Class-Specific Modules:

    • Class III Supervisors: Covers the Class IV modules as well as focusing on surface plant and equipment, surface-supplied diving equipment, umbilical management, and Kirby Morgan hat operations.

  2. Supervisor Training material as per guidance from the Department of Employment and Labour (DoEL), South Africa.

Course Admission:

  1. Prerequisites for Registration as Learner Air Dive Supervisor for Class IV/III/II

    • Course enrollment form
    • Copy of your ID/ Passport
    • Colour passport photograph
    • Letter of Recommendation from your current DoEL Supervisor, along with a copy of their DoEL dive supervisor permit
    • A clear copy of your current in-date DoEL dive permit
    • A copy of your current CV
    • In-date Diver or Topside Medical
    • In-date Supervisor First Aid and O2 Certification
    • Online theory modules completed before on-site assessment
  2. Portfolio of Evidence (POE) Requirements
    • To complete your Portfolio of Evidence (POE) during training and in the workplace, the following documents are required:

      • Completed Online Module A Theory for Diving Supervisors here on our platform
      • A copy of each logbook entry for panel hours completed in the workplace, with a summary entailing date, equipment, tools, depth, cross referenced to the logbook entry
      • The final Class POE assessment should be provided upon course enrollment, of skills and competence evaluation that is expected to take 1 to 4 weeks (Module B Practical), if there are minimal shortfalls
  3. Once all outstanding fees are settled and the online module is completed, our office will contact you to schedule your Practical Module B training dates.

Course Structure

  • Theory Component: Completed online independently prior to attending the practical training.
  • Practical Training: Skills training and assessment, at The Academy of Diving and Offshore Medicine or another approved training centre.
