Top-up Class III DoEL – Inshore Commercial Diver: 30m SSDE (Class III)

Top Up Class III Commercial Diver training builds upon the foundational skills acquired after completing a Class IV diving certification from an accredited training centre. This level focuses on surface-supplied diving operations which are crucial for divers who need to work in environments requiring more complex equipment and procedures.
Course Structure
- Theory Component: Completed online independently prior to the practical training start date. This certification includes modules on surface supply diving equipment, umbilical management, kirby morgan hat operation techniques and safe work practices for SSDE (Surface Supplied Diving Equipment).
- Practical Training: Conducted at The Academy of Diving and Offshore Medicine or another approved commercial diving school. This phase focuses on the practical use of surface-supplied systems, underwater communication, tool handling, and in-water operational safety. Trainees gain real-world experience in controlled diving environments. COST TO BE INVOICED BY THE ACADEMY OF DIVING SEPARATELY FOR EFT / SWIFT PAYMENT
On completion of theory online, please book your practical training dates by sending an email to us:

Certification and Skills
Graduates of the Class III programme are certified to work with surface-supplied diving systems, enabling them to perform more complex underwater tasks than those in Class IV. They are equipped with the skills to manage and operate specialised equipment, conduct deeper dives safely, and handle emergencies effectively in a surface-supplied diving environment.
After completing Class III, divers can progress to Class II, which involves even more advanced techniques and deeper dives, often requiring the use of more sophisticated equipment and procedures. This progression allows divers to take on more challenging roles in the commercial diving industry, such as underwater construction and repair work.
(SAQA ID 110372 | NQF Level 4)
This programme aligns to the QCTO curriculum for Diver (Commercial) (684101001) and supports the SAQA Occupational Certificate: Class 3 Inshore Diver (SAQA ID 110372, NQF Level 4).
Exit Level Outcomes are achieved through training and assessment that develops competence in limited scope surface-supplied diving operations, interpreting dive plans and preparing/testing surface equipment, executing routine and emergency dive tasks, maintaining surface support and communications, and completing post-dive documentation, checks, and maintenance.
