This programme prepares experienced divers to operate at the highest level of commercial diving supervision, managing complex offshore diving operations and ensuring full compliance with safety and regulatory standards.The training aligns with Department of Employment and Labour (DoEL) guidelines and builds on Class IV and Class III supervisory knowledge.

It is the final step in progressing to senior supervisory roles within the commercial diving industry.

How the Programme Works

Step 1: Complete Theory Online

The theory component is completed online independently before attending final assessment.

Step 2: Complete Portfolio of Evidence (POE)

Candidates must complete their Portfolio of Evidence (POE) during training and in the workplace.

  • Completed Online Theory for Diving Supervisors
  • Complete Required Practical panel hours and competencies as a learner supervisor in the workplace
  • Complete and sign off the POE for Theory and Practical requirements of a learner supervisor
  • Your workplace supervisor must sign off on it before you attend the 2–3 week skills training and final assessment at your chosen training centre

Step 3: Final Skills Training and Assessment

Final skills training and assessment are conducted at an approved training centre.

Please note: Your online theory purchase covers the theory component only. Practical skills training and assessment at your chosen training centre will be invoiced separately.

Entry Requirements

Prerequisites for Registration as Learner Air Dive Supervisor – Class II

  • Course enrolment form
  • Copy of your ID / Passport (minimum age requirement)
  • Copy of your Divers Card
  • Colour passport photograph
  • Letter of Recommendation from your current DoEL Supervisor, along with a copy of their DoEL dive supervisor permit
  • A clear copy of your current in-date DoEL dive permit
  • A copy of your current CV

Department of Employment & Labour (DoEL) Minimum Requirements – Class II

  • Minimum age: 24 (attach ID / Drivers / passport copy)
  • Number of dives: Minimum 100 (attach proof from logbook)
  • Experience: At least 2 years from completion of Class II diver
  • Practical hours during course: Portfolio of Evidence (including 50)
  • In-date Diver or Topside Medical (must reflect on SAUHMA database)
  • In-date Supervisor First Aid and O2 Certification (Level 3 First Aid)
  • Chamber Operator Certificate
  • Online theory modules completed before on-site assessment
